Thank you to everyone who signed up to help us dismantle the old barns that our supporters have generously contributed to our renovation project at Lakeview Springs. (And hey, it’s not too late to join if you want to volunteer your time!)
We are in good shape to reclaim all that lumber for use in the Civil War-era Lodge located at Lakeview Springs, but the project won’t end with taking down these barns. Once we’ve collected the wood to use, we’ll be launching the next stage of the project, where we look to restore the structure into the beautiful Welcome Center we’ve designed.
Once complete, the new Welcome Center will set the tone for a new camp experience, one that is rooted in more than 200 years of local history and nearly 60 years of camp ministry. When people come to visit Lakeview Springs, this will be their first stop, their first introduction to Lakeview Springs. With its vaulted ceiling and loft space, modern restrooms, a camp store, and compliant egress and accessibility, the Lodge will completely transform the welcome experience at Lakeview Springs and set the stage for future projects.
We’re still looking for anyone interested in joining this project! We are looking for volunteers for the dates of March 7-11 and March 14-18. Lodging and meals are available at camp over these dates, and the barn projects will be taking place in the Columbus and Seymour area. Even if you’re only able to join for an afternoon, we’d love to have you! To sign up to volunteer, go to lakeview.camp/lakeviewsprings.
