Lydia is our new Administrative Assistant at Lakeview. She joined the team in June, but with the busyness of the summer, we haven’t had the chance to introduce her to everyone, so we’re taking the chance to do so now!
If there’s an adventure on the horizon, there’s a good chance Lydia Haak is willing to give it a try.
Ultra-endurance running? Absolutely. Hyrox? Done. Bungee jumping and cliff diving? On the list. A friend even recently suggested paragliding to work (although she hasn’t tried it—yet!).
That adventurous spirit is part of what Lydia brings to her new role as administrative assistant at Lakeview Ministries, a place that is near and dear to her heart. Lydia attended camp through her elementary and junior high years and later served on Junior Staff.
Her career eventually took her into athletic training, where she worked with high school and collegiate athletes through a hospital system. But in the past year, Lydia found herself ready for a change.
“It was time to refocus myself on the things that matter,” she said. “Then here was this perfect opportunity.”
Lydia loves the variety of her work at Lakeview, along with the team around her. But she especially loves the shared purpose behind it all. “We’re all working toward the same goal — helping more people experience Jesus,” she said. “It’s refreshing that we’re all aligned on what actually matters.”
Outside of Lakeview, Lydia helps coach high school soccer at Trinity Lutheran, spends plenty of time outdoors with her dog, and enjoys any activity with her nephew. She’s also pursuing an MBA in healthcare management. And her next upcoming adventures? A half marathon, then a “backyard-style” endurance event that involves running a 5K every hour for 6 hours, then another half marathon.
That combination of an adventurous spirit and unique perspective on life is something she hopes to bring to the Lakeview office, too. Her years in healthcare taught her to recognize what truly deserves urgency — and what doesn’t.
“If no one’s dying, it’s fine,” she said with a laugh. “It’ll work out.”
For Lydia, returning to Lakeview is more than just a job, it’s a chance to give back to a ministry that helped shape her faith and where she now gets to help others experience Jesus, too. We’re so glad to have her a part of the team here at camp!
